Education
The structure of the education of history reflects the structure of education of the faculty. During the Bachelor, the basic knowledge of archictural history will be teached, which can be enriched in the Master of the study and will be closed with an individual.
In the first three semesters there will be given an overview of European architectural history from the Mesopotamian civilization to contemporary developments in a series of lectures. In the fifth semester, there is offered a minor, where the history of Dutch architecture, art, urban design and landscape is treated.
In the final, sixth semester the students take part on an excursion, where the 'paper' knowledge is confronted with the real historical architecture in situ.
In the Master the knowledge of architecture, art and urbanism can be enriched by lecture series that highlight specific topics. Writing a history thesis is the concluding part of the education of architectural history, where students independently perform a research or literature with a previously agreed topic.
Thus the study of history offers students the opportunity to understand and acquire knowledge of the past, what the exercise of his profession required, and will also encourage the possible further development through literature and other sources.
