Organisation
Structure
The department Building Technology comprises four smaller units, called sections, which each consist of one or several chairs, nine in total in case of Building Technology. Each chair is managed by a professor. The professor is responsible for the substantive quality and quantity of the education and research in his/her field. The employees (some having their own website) of the department are distributed along the chairs depending on their specific knowledge and expertise. The department as a whole is managed by the Department Director and supported by the Secretary of the Board and the Secretary Staff. Student association BouT finally promotes the interests of students of Building Technology and Architectural Engineering.
Management
The department is managed by the Departmental Director, who is one of the full-time professors. The Departmental Director has an integrated management task and is responsible for the strategic substantive development of the primary tasks (education, research and knowledge valorisation). The Departmental Director receives solicited and unsolicited advice on educational matters from coordinators of the Bachelor’s and the Master’s degree programmes. In the field of research the Departmental Director receives solicited and unsolicited advice from the Research Dean. The Research Dean is a full professor or associate professor who, in a supra-chair capacity, is entrusted with the task of promoting the research climate in a broad perspective.
