Alongside his work as a professor, Schrijnen is also the space and mobility director for the Province of Zuid-Holland, as well as being a member of the board of the Stichting Rotterdam Maaskant and the Stichting Architectuur Biënnale foundations. He is the chairman of the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, and was previously a member of the board of the Rotterdam urban planning and housing department.
