Capita Selecta 2010 - Maravilla Gymnasium and Geschwister-Scholl-School

From 16 November to 2 December 2010, the department of Architecture is to organise a new Capita Selecta lecture series.

This year, the series is to be organised in cooperation with the Berlage Instituut Rotterdam.

On November 30 Victor Olmos, partner of Olmos Ochoa uit Madrid, will lecture on the Alejandor de la Sota’s Maravilla Gymnasium in Madrid and Hugh Campbell, head of Architecture of the UCD School of Architecture Dublin, on Scharoun’s Geschwister-Scholl-School in Lunen Germany.

This year’s theme will be ‘Twelve institutional and public buildings revisited, 1925-1968’. In six lectures the series will explore twelve buildings whose architecture reformulated the relationship between public and private spheres in the twentieth century.
