TU Delft and BNA present BEAU: innovation agenda for creative industries

The network for Built Environment, Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU) – led by TU Delft’s Architecture faculty, BNA and the Federation Dutch Creative Industries - is one of the networks that will provide plans for the creative industry. BEAU recently presented its innovation agenda for the built environment.
Creative industry
The creative industries (design, media and entertainment, fashion, gaming and architecture for instance) make cities more attractive to tourists, businesses and residents. That’s why the Dutch government marked the creative industry as one of the sectors, which should be valued and strengthened due to its importance to Dutch economy. The government has an annual fund to stimulate a healthy development of the creative industries.
Top team creative sector
A top team has been created for each top sector. It comprises a scientist, a senior official, an innovative SME entrepreneur and a standard bearer for the sector. Victor van der Chijs, managing partner at OMA, is the standard bearer for the top sector creative industry. Separate networks are working within this top team creative industries.
BEAU
The network for Built Environment, Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU) is one of the networks of the top team creative industries. BEAU's chairs are TU Delft faculty of Architecture’s research director Frank van der Hoeven and Fred Schoorl, director of BNA/FDCI. BEAU puts a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, user-inspired design and reuse, intends to use cities as a lab environment for innovative firms.
Over 30 partners signed the innovation agenda BEAU.
Minister Verhagen (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation) will give his final decision on the agendas for the top sectors in March 2012.
