TU Delft and National Renovation Platform launch new programme in Renovation and Transformation

07 June 2012 by Marketing & Communicatie

From 2013, TU Delft's Architecture faculty and the National Renovation Platform (Nationaal Renovatie Platform) will start a new post-initial programme in Renovation and Transformation of existing real estate. The programme will provide support to professionals from the property sector in the most important challenge currently facing the built environment: the redevelopment of existing properties.

Current challenge: redeveloping existing properties

The renovation and transformation of existing properties is one of the most topical and important challenges in the development of the built environment. This redevelopment calls for  the construction and property sector to embrace a fundamentally different approach and working method. Redevelopment requires professionals to specialise in reinvesting in existing built areas, but also to combine their knowledge and skills in a wide range of different areas, including construction, design, law, organisation, administration and governance, spatial planning and economics and finance.  In addition, the ideal redeveloper is able to forge links at different levels and understands the broad impact of decisions made in areas ranging from investment to actual implementation.

Effective combination of science and practice

A good educational programme is essential for facilitating this new way of working. Starting in 2013, the NRP Academie will therefore be offering a new programme for professionals in the property sector, effectively combining scientific and academic rigour with practical knowledge. NRP Academie targets professionals across the property sector, including commissioning parties, designers and architects, consultants, investors, municipal officials, building companies and teachers in secondary and higher vocational education.

Programme

The NRP Academie is currently developing its programme, coordinated by TU Delft ‘s Professor of Housing Management Vincent Gruis (Real Estate and Housing department, Architecture faculty). More details about the new programme will appear on this website soon.
