The PhD mentor ensures that appropriate attention is paid to the process-related aspects of supervision from the outset. The intended roles of the mentor in this are:
- to act as a sounding board;
- to provide support to the PhD student, focusing on the PhD process and reciprocal relationship and drawing attention to potential bottlenecks;
