Institutes & Research Schools

The Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft participates in the OTB Research Institute, works in close collaboration with the Berlage Institute and takes part in two research schools: Nethur and TRAIL.

Institutes 

OTB

The OTB Research Institute of the Built Environment specializes in independent research and consultancy in the field of housing, construction and the built environment. The institute is part of Delft University of Technology.

The Berlage

The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design runs a post graduate program for design-based research in architecture and urban design. Its program is open to applications from graduated and experienced architects, urban planners and landscape architects. Complementary to this program, the Berlage Institute also broadens its activities to the professional sector through continuing education opportunities, a series of publications, for which it solicits internal and external collaborators, and a public program of lectures, debates, and symposia.

Research schools 

TRAIL

Within TRAIL, Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente and Radboud University Nijmegen collaborate. Twelve faculties and institues (spanning the fields of economics, technology, policy and management, and the social and behavioural sciences) form a strong concentration of scientific experts in the fields of traffic and transport. TRAIL initiates and participates in research programs, collaborative arrangements with public and private parties, and other collaborative initatives that aim to connect scientific research and its applications in practice.

NETHUR

The Netherlands Graduate School of Urban and Regional Research is a joint initiative of the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Radboud University Nijmegen (RU), University of Groningen (RuG) and Utrecht University (UU), which hosts the secretariat. The graduate school is accredited by The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

OSK

The Dutch Postgraduate School for Art History (known as OSK) connects several important institutes in the field of art and architectural historical research in the Netherlands. These institutes comprise the departments of art history and architectural history of seven Dutch universities:
 Delft University of Technology; Leiden University; Radboud University Nijmegen; University of Groningen; University of Amsterdam; Utrecht University; VU University of Amsterdam.
They are joined by six important sister institutes: Netherlands Architecture Institute, Rotterdam; Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD), The Hague; Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (National Association for Cultural Heritage); Rijksmuseum Amsterdam; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.
