Exchange programme

Study programme / enrollment 2013-2014

  • Introduction
Please note that the information on the programme choices is still subject to changes.

TU Delft Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences offers a wide variety of courses and modules to foreign students. As an exchange student you can follow part of a Master programme.
Exchange students to our faculty can make a choice from the MSc1 programmes offered. They have to choose a complete programme and are not allowed to make their own combination of subjects from different MSc1 prgrammes. In the course catalogue (www.studyguide.tudelft.nl) you will find all the courses given in 2012-2013. Students should base their study plan on the current version of the course catalogue, bearing in mind that changes may occur next year. The course catalogue will be updated in May 2013. A new MSc1 programme “The Architecture of the Interior” will be offered from September 2013. It is not yet included in the studyguide, but you can find information on www.tudelft-interior-architecture.nl.

Unfortunately our MSc1 programmes of Materialisation and Hybrid Building have been cancelled for next year. Instead two new programmes will be taught: “Non-residential building” and “Complex Projects”. Please find a short description of the programmes below. At this moment we do not have more detailed information. Please let us know if you are interested in one of these new programmes or choose from the other MSc1 programmes in our study guide.
Non-Residential Building aims for integral design concepts and resolutions, where spatial qualities meet social, ecological and economic qualities of a sustainable nature. The non-residential architect possesses orientation towards artefacts, contexts, systems, images and procedures, and researches the typological, compositional and tectonic principles that underlie complex non-residential (office -, school -, health care -, commercial) buildings in urban and non-urban settings.
Cities are increasingly renewed by large projects rather than by long- term visions and subsequent master planning. Public-private partnerships are organized to engage strategic sites resulting in complex developments. These developments are comprised of multiple and often conflicting interest, which have to be simultaneously negotiated. The traditional tools of architecture and urban planning are simply not equipped to deal with the conditions that arise. This critical condition will be the focus of ‘Complex Projects’.

You will find a manual to the study guide via this link: studyguide manual.

In principle, all MSc1 programmes are available in the fall semester (starting September). In the spring semester (starting February) the following MSc1 programmes are not available: Urbanism, Landscape Architecture, and Real Estate & Housing. Please note that Landscape architecture can only admit students with a finished bachelor degree.

  • Exchange students
Exchange students are students participating in a Socrates-Erasmus programme, or students from a university that has a bilateral agreement with TU Delft. Click here for the list of partner universities. Exchange students are 'non-degree' students, which means that they do not receive an academic degree or a diploma. The study period at TU Delft is part of the study at the home university; credits gained at TU Delft are transferable. Exchange students can be registered at TU Delft for an uninterrupted maximum period of 12 months. During their studies in Delft, they remain registered at their home university as well. Exchange students do not have to pay tuition fees at TU Delft. If exchange students wish to continue their studies after the exchange period of 12 months, they will have to follow the regular application procedure for international Master students. Information on this procedure and the requirements can be found here. For further general information on how to apply as an exchange student please consult this page.
