PhD in Architecture and the Built Environment
PhD research at TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture
The Faculty of Architecture at the Delft University of Technology is well know in Europe for its Bachelor and Master education programs in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences. The Faculty offers increasingly the opportunity of Doctoral Education (PhD), covering the full scope of Design, History, Engineering, Planning and Management in Architecture and the Built Environment. You can conduct a PhD-research within the framework of the research groups Architecture, Computation & Performance, Design & History, Green Building Innovation, Housing, Real Estate & Project Management, and Urbanism.
Please be aware that you need to overcome some hurdles. You have to meet the basic requirements for entering the PhD track (degree and language skills). There should be enough resources to fund your research. Also you need to find a supervisor that accepts you as a PhD candidate. These pages explain the procedure how to become a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Architecture.
"The PhD student of the future will be part of an academic network and will have to carve out a place for himself in a competitive international arena. He therefore requires training that will give him the tools to realise his full potential in all dimensions. The modern PhD student, as both the jewel in the crown and the ambassador of TU Delft, learns to present himself as an academic entrepreneur, acutely aware of his ambition and the social context of his future profession".
