Conference The Future Envelope 5 - Technology Transfer - 19 May 2011
All around us, new technologies and materials emerge at an unknown rate. However, where other disciplines are advancing, it seems that the building industry is reluctant to pick up new trends. Since we want to stay on top we need to find ways to integrate new developments into the unique and project oriented building discipline.
The conference aims at identifying those areas in which the façade world can learn from other disciplines concerned with highly technical products. What are their design strategies and building processes? Are these concepts transferable to an architectural market?
At the occasion of the fifth edition of the annual conference The Future Envelope, speakers from disciplines such as industrial design, aerospace design, material technology, façade design and architecture will share their experience and vision about the future building envelope.
Conference The Future Envelope 4 - Next Generation - 10 June 2010
The one day conference addresses future technologies as well as the next generation of designers. Anything is interesting that supports future development of the building envelope. We will hear about developments in design and art, facade technologies and also design tools and methodologies.
Challenging Glass 2 Conference -20 – 21 may 2010
Challenging Glass is a two-day conference which aims at gathering world class designers, engineers and researchers on the architectural and structural use of glass. A specific goal is to get PhD researchers from around Europe and the world in contact with each other as well as with practice.

SASBE 2009 -15 – 19 June 2009
The third International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Built Environments focuses on a positive approach that uses climate change and limited resources as a stimulus for better planning, design and construction, and the development of smart, clean and effective technologies, cradle to cradle.

Conference The Future Envelope 3 - The Making of... - 14 May 2009
Just like a fine musical instrument is attuned with the entire orchestra, the performance of the future facade will be tuned in accordance with the entire building. Today's facades are complex systems. A multitude of people are involved in the very early planning phase, and facades can no longer be considered truly functional without a valid climate concept. But what does that mean in practice? Can conventional methods of execution still be applied? Can the facade be compared with other disciplines, and can we learn from those? How will we design and build facades in the future?
Conference The Future Envelope 2 - Architecture Climate Skin - 2008
The role of the building envelope - related to the energy performance of a building and the comfort of the user - is significant and, because of the sustainability aspect, is coming into focus more and more. Since the introduction of the double leafed facade, it is obvious that the climate performance of a building can be an important tool for architectural expression. Climate-oriented architecture is related to all aspects of building. It will affect the design as well as the building process and the construction itself. For The Future Envelope 2, specialists from the fields of architecture, engineering and research were asked to share their practical experience and their visions for the future of the climate-oriented building envelope.
Challenging Glass Conference - 22 – 23 May 2008
Challenging Glass is a two-day conference which aims at gathering world class designers, engineers and researchers on the architectural and structural use of glass. A specific goal is to get PhD researchers from around Europe and the world in contact with each other as well as with practice.
Symposium Concept House - 9 November 2007
'Rules Driven Design'.
Conference The Future Envelope 1 - A multidisciplinary approach - 2007
Research in the field of facade technology has to be orientated on the current topics energy, ecology and efficiency as key items for demands on the design. Existing facade technology, after 60 years of curtain walls and 30 years of element facades, lacks new impulses and strategies for ground breaking developments. As a result, the Facade Research Group at the Faculty of Architecture / TU Delft has been developed and established with a focus on problem-orientated research solutions, experimental projects, planning tools, possibilities of technology transfer and future and innovative developments.
